How we verify installers

Every installer on Ducto is an independent, licensed business. Before their first job, a person on our team checks each of their credentials against the source that issued it. Nothing is accepted on the installer's word alone.

What every installer must hold

State contractor license

An HVAC or electrical license from the state for the work they take on. We look it up with the state's licensing agency (in Utah, the Division of Professional Licensing) and confirm it's active, in the installer's legal business name, and covers the work.

EPA Section 608 certification

Required for anyone who connects, tests or charges refrigerant lines. We confirm it with the EPA-approved program that issued it.

General liability insurance

We confirm the policy with the insurer or agent on the certificate, including the named business and the expiry date.

After they're approved

  • We track every expiry date. Installers get a reminder 30 days ahead, and a credential that lapses stops them being offered new jobs until a current one is verified.
  • Jobs only go to installers whose verified credentials cover the work: refrigerant work needs EPA 608 certification, and the electrical connection is always made by a licensed professional, on every option.
  • Homeowners rate every completed job, and installers see their own record.

On every job

  • The installer uploads photos and test readings at each stage: nitrogen pressure test, final vacuum of 500 microns or lower, and a vacuum decay test, plus the breaker and wire installed.
  • Permits must be issued and uploaded before the final payment is released.
  • The installer is paid in stages, held and released only after the homeowner approves the work, or 3 days after it's submitted if the homeowner doesn't respond.

Insurance

Each installer carries their own general liability insurance, verified as above, and is the contractor of record for the work under their own contract with you. Ducto is a software platform; it does not perform construction, mechanical or electrical work.
